Looking to buy a new laptop, hoping to find a 14". I was seeing the Lenovo Y40 series, and liked just about everything spec-wise but was seeing it getting panned for the screen quality. Today it looks like the Y40-80 series, with the 5th gen processors are available. Does anyone know if they fixed the screen quality in this new generation?

    Thanks

    Adam

    same crappy tn panel.

the good news is you still can buy a aftermarket ips panel and diy.

I was going to ask if same panel. Huge bummer. No interest for me DIYing a display. I pay this much I expect at least Yoga 2 quality 1080p display and not the
weak mess on the Y40 now. Not sure why Lenovo goes low quality on these but good quality with Yoga 2 1080p display.

Could be price point, but there is little cost difference in panels (the one on the Y40 vs Yoga 2). Why not the better display? $2 to $4 difference in factory ordered batches would mean $6 to $12 retail
increase. Consumers would not mind this.
