    You're welcome!

FWIW, they're running a keyboard layout survey on Design Matters right now.

I'll bet I'm the only one who likes the the function key in the lower left, and pgdn/up and home/end as functions of the arrow keys.

Great to see they are changing their policies, but "close to being the industry best" was pretty funny. Some manufacturers offer zero dead pixel policy (asus). I don't know if that applies to stuck pixels though...

    brutalturtle,

Interesting information regarding Asus. Do you have a link to a doc on their site? I ask, not as a challenge, but to take another look.

Thanks in advance for the pointer...

I can get used to the layout of the peripheral keys of any keyboard as long as it's firm with good key depth and travel.

Good news on the screen policy. Doesn't Asus charge for their zero bright dot policy?

still it's a great improvement over the 13 dead pixels or so that was pretty ridiculous.
    Thanks for the heads up!

Ethyriel! You have ruined everything! Just kidding. I had to call asus global support quite a few times regarding my battery issue and they specifically told me black dots count, for new laptops within the first 30 days. I don't think this 30 day black dots policy was part of the "ZBD zero bright dot policy", just standard lcd policy. But you know what, I sniffed around and in some countries it says asus conforms to 2 dead pixels acceptance. Just like how samsung laptops DO provide zero dead pixel policy (black dots included)... but only in korea/some parts of asia. So Mark@Lenovo, I sort of stand corrected. Lenovo is industry best ;) And I apologize, I shouldn't have jumped on them like that :| I am going on 21 days wait since ordering the X61s, things are starting to get blurry...

    Brutalturtle,

I thought your comment was fair and I appreciated the note on Asus and now Samsung - many times our customers have seen things that we haven't and it's really a help when people point these things out in a friendly way. Thanks!

Ethyriel - thanks for the link!

Having the Thinklight on/off via the bottom-left and top-right keys is a (key)stroke of genius that wouldn't be quite as nice if the Fn key were to move...

The Fn key position is logical and nice to use during normal usage, but when gaming, it's a problem, especially while you're trying to press Ctrl+1

I think the only solution to the ctrl/fn issue is to have a hard or BIOS switch, it's impossible to please everyone with either option.
