I've just received my new R61, and a few questions.

Firstly, there is noticable keyboard flex on the right hand side, around the enter key etc, is this normal?

Secondly, when closed, the lid flexes about 3-4mm in the middle between the hinges when squeezed hard.

Am I being over-cautionary, or are these not normal?

Keyboard flex is not usual with Thinkpads
For the lid, there is a limit to squeezing hard...every lid will flex between the hinges with a given pressure

    Also, read this: http://lenovoblogs.com/insidethebox/?p=19

The six keys del, etc 'clatter' when I press them, and the keyboard feels firmer and quieter the more to the left I go.

So the material shouldn't be a issue. Same as T series.

I think the screen flex is normal, the blog above suggests it's a built-in flex for durability.

The keyboard is my main concern

have you tried tightening the screws on the bottom? lenovo is notorious for loose screws
