The new Thinkpads don't have mSATA slots. They have M.2 slots.

The better catch is that the m.2 that they included is size 42 which limits the capacity to 128gb right now.

Technology is getting nuttier and nuttier! I can't wait to see 512gB+ storage in cell phones, and SSD's coming down in price.. Can't wait to see whats going on in another 2-6 years

I wish I could afford something that big.. Thinking about getting a 256gB for my T420

to be more accurate, it limits the options to just *one* card greater than cache-size from a minor player. And there's no indication there will be any more 42mm M.2 cards over 100GB any time soon. Intel promised one last year that never materialized and is promising another one this year that I'm not holding my breath on. I still curse Lenovo for not giving us an 80mm slot.

Which models have M.2 slots? My W520 has mSATA. Disappointing if they switched in the new W540 since I was thinking of upgrading.

The W530 and W520 have mSATA and the W540 has M.2.

I have a W530 right now so maybe you should considering switching to that one.
