Need some advice on what to do. I am very happy thus far with my new T400. Last night, 3 days into ownership, while typing I noticed that the bottom right of the t400 doesn't sit flush. It doesn't start teadering, but I can see the case flex as the weight of my hand flexes the case. I looked underneat and I have the rubber pads on all 4 corners, but you can see the bottom right corner is about 1-2mm from sitting flush.

What are my options? Should I just deal with it? Send it back, but I don't want to pay a 15% restocking fee.

I also paid for the 1 year on site.

Lenovo wasn't very helpful my first attempt to resolve the issue. Do all those guys read the exact same script? Do they all ask if they can put you on hold for 2 minutes?

Also, I bought a HP for my wife 2 months ago and that had the same problem, but much worse (laptop would rock back-and-forth). I took it back to best buy and it was swapped out without any problem. This was 45 days into ownership and I didn't purchase the cheese.

Yes their support sucks. I'm actually considering buying a laptop from local store, just so I have the convenience of talking with someone face-to-face. Then again, I'd loose the ability to purchase the customized performance lappie that I got online.

I get my laptop back today. And believe me, Lenovo's pissed me off so bad that if I do return it, I'll pay the 15% just to rid of them. And then immediately dispute the charges on the credit card.

Okay, just an update: Today I got someone that was a bit more helpful. They offered to send me a free docking station. Nice gesture, but my notebook is a travel notebook so that would be of no use to me. The other option was to build me a new one and give me 21 days to return the defective one. No restocking fee and no shipping charges (I already paid for 2 day) on the orginal purchase. So, the idea is that I should have my new one within the 21 days so I don't end up laptopless.

Concern: My current peg legged laptop as the LG. I sure hope my even legged one gets the LG and not the Samsung.

I have the same problem with my T61. I just got some rubber feet that you can buy from like home depot or something, then used the adhesive rubber portion surrounding the cut out feet, cut a little bit out and stuck it to the rubber pad that doesn't meet the surface. Fixed the flex.

You could also just replace or add another rubber pad that is slightly bigger to that particular corner.

I would do that, but the way my brain is wired I would end up dwelling on it the entier time I owned the laptop. The fact that it is brand new and flexes drives me nuts. If over the long course of ownership it developed that problem it wouldn't have bothered me bad

Well, he said that he would try to get one to me. Docking station wouldn't have fixed my problem. Making up stuff sounds good but ultimately hurts us the consumer. Now if they would have offered a free laptop, now thats a different story :)

Why not take a razor blade and shave the rubber foot at the bottom left corner down 1-2mm so it matches the bottom right. Then it would sit flush and you'd get to keep your LG screen.

Thought I would update. New T400 arrived today and it sits better than the previous one. I just think that the keyboard flex amplified the problem in the first one. Anyhow, this also came shipped with the LG display and this one is configured slightly different as well.

Did Lenovo replace yours or you ordered a new one?

Tell you the truth, I have noticed something similar. You can actually twist the laptop slightly if you were to test it with two hands and the screen open.

I had to order a new one. Lenovo charged me and then sent me a RMA# for the old one. The entire original purchase price of the original will be credited to my CC. They got it out to me in less than a week. The CSR was friendly, but wouldn't budge on the advanced charge to my CC. He said there was nothing he could do and that was their policy. Overall, I am satisfied on how quickly they got the new one out to me and hope the credit for the old laptop hits the card SOON. Hopefully, if all goes well, I won't have to deal with customer service again.

My T400 has a similar condition. I can slide a piece of papper underneath
the feet, although it drags a bit. The rubber feet touch the table just a bit.

Add that to the keyboard flex in the upper left corner around ESC to E.

I dont plan on returning it due to not sitting level, though.
But glad they sent a new one.
