I just recieved my T400 today! It's awesome so far but I definitely still need to get used to it. I am switching from a MacBook Pro.

One thing I liked on my MacBook Pro was being able to right click by using two finger tap on the trackpad. I've only seen this on a Mac but is there a way to do this with my T400?

I believe the t400 doesn't have that feature on the trackpad. Start using the trackpoint man, it's awesome and way better than the trackpad. No need to have your hands off of the keyboard, it's super accurate and has all the features you want in a mouse (middle button scroll FTW).

I dont know of any way, unless there is a 3rd party program that will do so. But I dont know of any. AFAIK, mac touchpads are the only ones who recognize two fingers, as PC ones, switch to one of them...

I do not believe the T400's touchpad has multitouch capabilities, so no, you cannot do that.

Thanks for the reply! I'm trying to primarily use the trackpoint. I have only ever heard good things about it. Just takes some time to get used to after using my old laptop for 2.5 years. I like how I got three different point covers with it too. I switched the one that came with it to the frizzy(?) one.

The TrackPoint takes some practice, but once you get used to it the TrackPoint is superb.

I assume by "frizzy" you mean the one with the sandpaper texture. This used to be the standard style and is called the "Classic Dome". It is also sometimes referred to as the "Eraserhead". I like this one for its precision, but it can be fatiguing with extended use.

The one that came installed (with the ridges on top) is the "Soft Dome". I am not particularly fond of this one, but it is the default.

The third one with the concave structure is the "Soft Rim". I have used this one exclusively for the last several months. It is extremely comfortable (even for extended usage) due to its shape.

I find the best practice for using the TrackPoint is to use your index finger (either one) on the point and to slide your thumb down from the spacebard to the three buttons. This is very natural once you get used to it, and I find it to be extremely fast as well.

I love the trackpoint. I use it more than I use my touchpad.

By frizzy that is exactly what I meant. Thanks for the overview of the three different ones I wasn't sure what they were called. I remember the classic dome on the Thinkpads I had used in science class in middle school.

I've been using it like you said with the index finger and thumb for the buttons and after only a couple hours I am already getting the feel for it.

You can also adjust the sensitivity of trackpoint under Control Panel -> Mouse -> UltraNav. I like it a little bit more sensitive than the default settings.

you want to click by doing a two finger tap?

Mwuahahahahah! Multi-touch support does exist on Synaptic touch-pads, and all that is required is a new(er) driver version. I have it enabled right now on my Asus, and Kevin has (or had) them on his T61.
