On my old laptop I was getting 14-18 download and 6-9 upload.

Well now you see how bad it is. I have no idea what's wrong. I've been looking at it all day now since I received it in the mail.

First I thought it had something to do with the Ipv6 said: Limited.
..So I unchecked the box for that. That did nothing. So I went into RegEdit and what should have canceled Ipv6 all together. But it still says limited.

Then I read that even if Ipv6 is limited it shouldnt slow down Ipv4 if it shows 'internet' like it does.

So I moved on to turning off firewalls and everything security. The laptops out of the box so there's no Norton's or anything like that installed.

I'm lost... I dont know what else to do.
Also under networks theres vince24L and vince24L (2) The name of my router and a duplicate? I tried to delete all connects and set up fresh but I'm used to XP and this Vista is frustrating.

Any help is appreciated. Internet pages take 20sec-40sec. to load!

Am I the only one who has no idea what Ipv6 is?

Pretty sure? Are you unsure as to whether you ran System Update or unsure of what it did when you ran it. One advantage of avoiding System update is you know what you've changed. I recommend against using System update. If you want to update your wifi driver or Access Connections, Or any other driver or Lenovo software go to the Lenovo support page, Drivers and Downloads, enter your system info, find the software you want, and read the readme.txt file that Lenovo gives you with just about every piece of software they offer.

Your going into RegEdit but you can't figure out which wifi driver your using?

Again, if you avoid System update, choose which pieces of software you want to update, and read the readme.txt file that comes with each one you would of read the following which comes with Intel PRO/1000 LAN Adapter Software version 9.52.25.0 (Build 196866) for the T400. See link below.

    DETERMINING WHICH VERSION IS INSTALLED

File Name Version (Build) Operating System
    ------------ ------------------- --------------------
    e1y6032.sys 9.52.25.0 (196866) Windows Vista 32-bit
    e1y60x64.sys 9.52.25.0 (196866) Windows Vista 64-bit

To check the version of the device driver that is installed on your system,
    follow the following instructions:

    1. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
    2. Click System and Maintenance, then click System.
    3. Click Device Manager.
    4. Click the "+" sign in front of the Network adapters type to open the all
    devices in that type.
    5. Double-click one of the following devices;
    Intel(R) 82567LM Gigabit Network Connection
    Intel(R) 82567LF Gigabit Network Connection
    6. Click the Driver tab and the driver version is displayed.

well I went through all the drivers and the only one that needed updated was actually the one you pointed out.

I updated it and did a speed test...

but then I tested it again and got 4DL/6UP

More info I posted on another forum, hopefully this will better help you guys understand what I'm doing wrong:

Yesterday I received my new Lenovo T400 in the mail. I'll start off by saying on a scale 1 to 10 with computer knowledge I'm probably a 5. I'm about average at best. I made sure every driver was up to date. And for awhile I thought it might have something to do with IPv6 being "Limited". As I've read that causing problems at times. Well I unchecked that in options and also what should have shut it off completely in command screen. Still says "Limited" But then read that has nothing to do with IPv4 being slow.(IPv4 says "internet" obviously).

    Specs for laptop:
    Intel Core 2 Dual T9600 2.90Ghz
    4GB RAM
    64-Bit Vista Business
    Intel 82567LM Gigabit Network Connection
Intel WiFi Link 5300 with PAN

-I'm using Comcast Internet. On my old laptop I was getting around 16download/8upload

-I'm in Aliquippa, PA(Outside of Pittsburgh)

-The problem is constant since I got my computer yesterday morning.

    -I am running off a Linksys WRT160N N-router wirelessly.

-My computer didnt come with any anti-virus software so nothing on. I have firewall turned off. And all settings for power set to performance max.

    -I'm on 64-Bit Vista business

-Speed tests from speettest.com showing anywhere from 0.16-3download/3-6upload.(Old computer was always around 16d/8up

-I'm using firefox as the browser. I did a speed test on IE as well and turned out the same.

Heres some screenshots if that will help:

Try switching your router to wireless g only. Unless your router is capable of N on the 5ghz band, N on 2.4ghz is really flaky and may be causing what your seeing.

    I'm on 2.8ghz, not 2.4ghz.. Make a difference?
Also how do I downswitch from N to G?

    Appreciate the help.

EDIT: I switched to G only. No difference.

Probably not a good idea to post a pic with your IP address in it.

    - call your Internet Service Provider and verify that the problem is on your end and not theirs.
    - what's wireless card are you using?
    - what driver version on your using for the wireless card?
    - what version of Access Connections are you using?

I agree with gmoney, I think at this point a call to support is in order. May be a bad wifi card.
