I received the T520 last Friday, and I haven't been this excited about a new computer since I bought my first computer (Mac Plus) almost 25 years ago. This thing is so solid and well designed.

Mine is one of the preconfigured models (424049U), which includes the NVS 4200M. My computing needs are fairly basic (light word processing, simple Excel spreadsheets, simple flowchart program, light browsing). I will not be using it for movies, gaming, CAD, or other graphics intensive applications. I know that it is supposed to switch automatically between integrated vs discrete graphics, as needed, but I've also read posts suggesting that that process might not always work so great, and that I could be wasting battery power by having switchable graphics turned on if I really don't need it in the first place. Is there any truth to this? If I do choose to turn off switchable graphics, where would I do that? Should I just leave well enough alone? BTW, the driver version for the NVS 4200M is 8.17.12.6696, driver date 2/2/2011.

I would then suggest you turn off the discrete graphics because it just wasted energy. Besides, the intel HD 3000 graphics are good enough for all your needs so there shouldn't be a downside.
