Just got my new t61 (redistributed). It had no software cd's with the system. Is this normal? How do I get rid of the 78 processes that run standard with the machine without installing a fresh XP pro (have no disc)? Is MSCONFIG the only option?

Follow the Clean install guide in this forum. I used it and it worked very well.

Rescue and recovery allows for a custom install which is essentially a clean install. After you complete the custom install you can burn a set of recovery discs which mirror the custom install. Don't forget to burn the first recovery discs and make a copy of the SWTools folder on the C:\ drive in case things don't work out as planned.
