Ordered a custom 15" T61 this month and received it exactly eight days later. Amazing! After recovering from the shock, I noticed the Centrino Pro label and got to thinking. . .

Why would they include this technology if I did not order it? This was a phone order for a custom build, but I made no request for the vPro technology. It was never mentioned. I am an old retired guy, not an employee of a megacompany with a Lenovo account.

Here is my question--is this a good thing or not? Does this technology open my notebook up for that corporate IT tech geek to take it over? I mean, it's OK to be paranoid if they really are after you, isn't it?

Should I complain about this or is it a good thing? Thanks folks.

Centrino Pro is simply the santa rosa chipset with wireless N.

What the mod is talking about is Intel's vPro, which I think is a business driven variant of Centrino. There's a difference between Centrino Pro (Santa Rosa) and Centrino vPro (which is older)
