I searched for this on the forum and google and was surprised I didn't find anything. I just got my laptop today and installed firefox from the firefox site and whenever I open firefox after completely closing all windows, it changes my homepage from google.com to lenovo.live.com.

    Anyone else seen this?

Haha yeah, who knows what kind of junk lenovo puts on your notebook. I was also annoyed by the messages Lenovo tries to send you in the Thinkvantage software.

With all creepy stuff manufacturers put on the notebooks I don't blame the US government not wanting to put Lenovo computers on their network :p

I was going to clean install but the torrent I downloaded of the XP image didn't like the serial on the bottom of my laptop so I gave up.

It's likely you downloaded a retail copy and have a VLK key or you downloaded a VLK copy and you have a retail key. You need to figure out what key you have and then match it. If you post the key I'd be more than happy to check for you :).

I'm kidding of course (about posting the key), but if you really want to post the key I will check for you.

It's Access Connections, look in the connection properties for the profile for whatever connection you're using, under "Additional Settings" there's a setting to "Override homepage" that defaults to http://lenovo.live.com/

It's a quick flip of a switch to fix.

Wonder why a bunch of people were able to make snarky comments but nobody bothered to tell the poster how to fix the problem.

Well when you have no idea, why not post snarky comments? It's good advice too. We were just shooting the sh1t so to speak waiting for you to come along.

I really don't know. But if I were them I wouldn't make the purchase with a tag saying that these computers are going to the US government. Who knows what kind of chips they can put in them that record/transmit any data that the computer has access to.
