Hi All,
I just got a new T61p. I am running Vista Business 32bit, with 3GB of RAM. I tried playing WoW, and couldn't get more than 40 something FPS, on native resolution and everything else turned all the way down. This was the best case. I tried changing the levels around, and sometimes it got down to single digit FPS, even with settings turned way down. This is disappointing as I thought this card could get 70-80 FPS on WoW at least. I have tried running both stock drivers and updated ones from laptopvideo2go.com. They didn't seem much different to me, actually.
Otherwise, the comp is pretty smooth. A little more plasticky and squeaky than I thought a Thinkpad would be, but still better than my last laptop.
Anyone have any thoughts on the video performance?
Thanks!

Well, could you first tell us which GPU you have (I am assuming FX 570m) and what you native resolution is?
-
Oh yeah.. forgot that there are two versions of the T61p. I have the 14.1", which means it's a nvidia quadro fx 570m, with 128mb. native res is 1400 x 1050.

OK, so you have to realize this isn't quite the same as the full fledged FX570m in the 15.4" laptop. In the 14 inch, it is crippled by the 64bit bus.
However, you should be able to pull 40FPS+ on high settings (I would think), not all low.....something certainly seems a bit off....I am not sure what though unfortunately......a few things to try:
1) Make sure you have completed uninstalled drivers before you put new ones in
2) If in Vista, try tearning the aeroglass off when gamin.......
You also may have better luck in the gaming section...sorry I couldn't be more help... -
You might want to verify that you are using the "High Performance" power profile, other profiles may be throttling your GPU.

I'm pretty sure I have it at 100% performance. I'm using my own power profile, using the Power Manager, and it is set at 100% when plugged in, which is how I'm testing it... I ran PC Doctor and it passed the video card test too, so it seems normal.. I'm downloading 3dmark06 to run a test later

Try disabling PowerMizer in the nvidia control panel. Also download the latest Lenovo nvidia drivers. The stock drivers that shipped with my unit was dated and barebones, the difference from updating was substantial for me.
New T61p - disappointing video performance
