So I just got my T61p in the mail yesterday. All stoked and mess, and when I power it up I get an operating system error, yay! I tried to reload windows using the thinkvantage last night, but I had a system shutdown in the middle of the night I guess because when I woke up it had an error message. Anyway reloading windows now while I'm at work so I can watch this time. Would have done that last night, but it was midnight and 7am comes to early.

Anyone experience a similar problem, and if so what did you do if you couldn't get windows reloaded?

I would have immediately gotten on the phone with Lenovo. They stand behind the fact that they sell an extremely solid product.

If it won't go through the first-time Windows set up off the partition, and you weren't sent any recovery DVD (as most manufacturers don't), then you should probably call Lenovo about this.

Update: I did call Lenovo first thing. They told me to reload windows using the thinkvantage setup. I got through the load this time no problems. Checking through things a little here and there but everything seems to working fine.

Is there any tests any can recommend to test things out. I'm not connecting to my work internet so it will have to wait till I get home but any help is greatly appreciated.

If you have got a Lenovo installation, then search for PC Doctor 5, it´s a system check program.

If it reports failure, then your system is probably faulty and should report Lenovo
the problem, and the diagnostics from PC-Doctor.

    Greets, hope all goes well!

I'd run a hard drive diagnostic from the BIOS. If there's a problem, that's probably it.
