The processor is overkill and Turbo Memory doesn't do anything. Buy the minimum amount of RAM possible and upgrade aftermarket. RAM Deals.

is this thinkpad t61? thinkpad is a line of laptop consisting of the R-series, T-series, and X-series.

i would choose thinkpad t61 series. the t61p is the performance lineup of the bunch, and is my pick.

the 3gb is not needed if its 32bit, i prefer to get 2gb. it is enough for most task.

what do you want to know?

I have a warranty with lenovo (std. 1 Yr.). If I go with an aftermarket ram module like Corsair or OCZ, I might void that. As of now, the sales rep has it as a "quote." I could still make changes, but will I feel up to do the labor?

Replacing RAM does not void the warranty.

I've had so many programs bog me down with 2GB, I tend to have tons of gouped windows, and other processes running. Yes this ThinkPad is in the thinkpad line of laptops.

I did notice the ThinkPad T61p workstation, but my research doesn't require running graphic intense software. When and if it does, I am forced to work on a classified workstation.

But I'm one of those guys whose more of a techie. I read about IBM's push for improving memory speeds, etc. I didn't consider the 64 bit OS software because we typically use 32.

I used to own a Toshiba laptop 256mb, 2gb memory, and 1.8Ghz processor and I once opened 12 large PDF files while writing a paper, downloading, chatting, and browsing through internet with multiple pages grouped. I think my computer froze a few times and I was running Time Warner's turbo high speed cable connection.

Oh, I did not know that. I will go to newegg.com and see if I can find some good ram.

So Lithus, is the turbo memory a "No Go"?

Back to the drawing board...canceled order and figuring out another one that I can live with.
