Excellent find. I'm waiting on a T500. The July 15 date was a little disappointing but expected. Specs as expected. 8.2 hr battery life with a 9 cell is much better then I expected. I was wanting 4-5 hrs. Probable will be just over 5 with a 6 cell.

Really not liking the shiny screen bezel or the metal grille for the speakers on the SL, but otherwise this looks to be pretty awesome news. I'd love to see a tablet version of the X200 though. If this happens, I'll be getting it as a compliment to my T61p. Hopefully these LED screens can match the quality of the Thinkpads this go around.

I think I'll leave it here where it I think will generate more interest unless you have a strenuous objection.

Thanks for the picks. I been jonesing for a new notebook since the screen on my R60 is horrid. I was kind of thinking about a X since I so rarely burn on my notebook and I wouldn't mind going lighter, but the screen bezel on the x200 looks hideous. I guess the proof will be when it comes out.

I can't quite place my finger on it, but something doesn't seem right about these Thinkpads aesthetically. Don't get me wrong though, I'm sure they'll be great lappies.

well if you look at pictures of x300 from the same site, the bezels look the same as other models here, but it looks normal in life.

any prediction on the price of x200?

How come the R series doesn't have the same multimedia feature ???
Nice to see LED backlit and HDMI, wonder if T series will have the same.
    Excellent find mate.

I bet the X200 will stay with simple VGA, no HDMI or DisplayPort. That may be the deal breaker...

Love the specs on the new SL series. However the compromised keyboard might be a deal breaker. How could they even think about changing the legendary Thinkpad keyboard?

Right now I'm caught between the T400 and the SL300. Here's hoping that the T400 will also show up with HDMI.

None of the thinkpads smaller than 15" come with DisplayPort. So Lenovo is still trying to force people into paying $200 for their docks. I will wait for Dell's Centrino 2 laptops that will be out in July. They said they will definitely come with DisplayPort. Saves $200 right there on that alone.

I'm curious about the battery location for the new lineup. Will they still be in the back? I find that the extended life batteries tend to become loose overtime.

    Yeah, I think I will buy T61p if W500 - T61p > $100 ;) Only a bit longer battery life can be a factor.

Anyway - there is no fear for Lenovo to suffer from Osborne effect ;)

I was really looking forward to a 14'' or smaller T Series. Since they've completely ignored the market for a 13.3'' T Series that only leaves the cut down 14/15'' T Series models.

The 14'' only advantage over the old generation is the introduction of a 9-cell. We don't know how bright these LED backlit displays are going to be either.

No Display Port on the 14'' model and only carrying an HD 3470 make me really question whether I want to invest in one.

Why are we forced to use the 15'' model if we want the features? I think the SL400 has Display Port.

But the SL series doesn't have a roll cage... Ahh compromises. I'm also starting to question whether or not I want one either now too as all I cared about were the 14" models.

Quite correct menos. However these are not widely available in my experience. It is very hard to find a model to buy that includes a 9-cell. Whereas if you want to buy a T61p the models usually come with the 9-cell.

According to Notebookcheck, the Radeon 3650 only score 3327 at 3D Mark 2006 with Core 2 Duo T9300 while Quadro FX 570m goes over 4300 with the same CPU.

No surprise on the FireGL 5700 for the workstation people (unknown perfromace unfortunately). I am happy the non-workstation 500 has the ATI 3650, though it seems that the outgoing FX750m still offers a bit more performance. I like the LED screens, but I haven't seen them of course so who knows. Like the battery life estimates: even if they are inflated by an hour, that's still incredible battery life. The 9 cell is supposedly internal and that rocks.

I like what I see, but I think the price of the T61p really makes me lean towards it.

how do i know? its called DDR3. these are going to be crazy. LED screens, and better video cards. SSD, and the Centrino 2 platform? in a realistic guess, about $2k depending on config.

LED isn't that expensive. It's like $100 extra if you want it on a Dell laptop. SSD is also optional. SSD is too expensive to get right now just stick with a 7200 and it will be really fast..

WHAT !!!!!!! The SL series will NOT have the Thinklight !!! (Smiles in background). Well, that honestly does kinda suck. It also sucks that it doesn't have a top OR bottom roll cage. However it will come with a Glossy screen so . . .

It looks like X and T series have (like top HPs and Macs do) a sensor which adjust LCD brightness to the lighting conditions.

These brochures are really playing up that the T Series will have 'switchable' graphics, but do you think that it will also be possible to get only integrated on a T?

It kind of sucks too that you can only get an LED screen on the 14.1 T in WXGA :(

Should be interesting to see what these cost in comparison to the current models, here's to hoping that its reasonably close.
