This is my first time ordering a laptop from onlinw. I've heard such good things about them, so I had to get them. I've been posting in other forums trying to figure out a good configuration. My school requirements are as follows..

Intel Pentium processor, 1.5 GHz speed or greater. Pentium III or IV, Celeron or AMD processor
Minimum RAM (memory) of 256 Mb (megabytes)
    Minimum 6Gb (gigabyte) Hard Drive
Color screen capable of 800 x 600 resolution and a minimum of 1Mb video memory
    CD-ROM drive
    DVD drive (or combination DVD/CD)
Microsoft Windows 2000, XP Professional or XP Home
10/100 Ethernet card or 100 fast Ethernet card (described below), a “10” card will not work
An anti-virus program with a current update subscription.

    What I configured on Lenovo.com...
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T8100 (2.1GHz 800MHz 3MBL2)1
    Genuine Windows Vista Business12
    14.1 WXGA TFT
    Intel GMA X3100 GM965
    2 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM)
    UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad)
    120GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm4
    CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo 24X/24X/24X/8X Max, Ultrabay Slim5
    ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wi-Fi wireless LAN Mini-PCIe US/EMEA/LA/ANZ10
    No Bluetooth
    6 cell Li-Ion Battery60
    7658: 1 Year Depot Warranty - Express7
    comes to about 1,200

My computer will be used for very simple functions, notes, powerpoints, email, etc... no gaming or anything like that. Would it be worth it for me to downgrade anything. Sorry for the long post fellas, thanks!!

futurepharm, if you purchase through Lenovo's Student discount page you can get a better deal then that. I configured your specs and got that system for $868.69 after taxes with coupon code USXBACKTOSCHOOL. You can try it out and see what works.

Yes, you need to be a student (or alumni). But even then, they don't ask for verification.

It's student AND ALUMNI, which is practically everyone.
