Anyone know when the new Thinkpad models coming out?

I would love a Thinkpad with a HDMI port.

I would love to get the SL series if it was a bit better built.

T500 (but not T400) comes with DisplayPort, which is also a digital port. DisplayPort can be easily converted into HDMI using adapter to connect to your flat screen TV.

Perhaps coincidentally, I don't see a tabook update for June yet. I'm watching for X301 updates (listed in April but still not available) and the T400s, myself...

What's the difference between a vanilla T400 and the "s" spec? Besides the processor, I couldn't find any.

Is the SP9xxx better than the T9xxx and P9xxx processors?

If these T400s rumors are true - based on reading another thread it seems they are - I would love it if it has a HDMI port.

    here is hoping it does.

The T400s is supposed to be thinner and lighter and as such uses the lower power "S" series Intel CPU's, it will likely be missing the dedicated graphics of the T400, so probably no HDMI.

Then "S" actually stand for simple and T400s might become rubbish.

As for portability, I would like to choose X series or X200T, or for performance I'd rather to buy T400

    @usapatriot
The SPs are just smaller verions of the "ordinary" P-CPUs (eg. the P9600). What differs is the package size (SP: 22mmx22mm, P:35mmx35mm). TDP in both cases is the same: 25W.

    Thanks for the clarification! ;)

So if the "s" stands for simple then would it be missing some of the features of the regular T400? Would this mean a lower or higher price tag?

Higher :p . I guess 's' stands for 'small' (in terms of 'thinner & lighter'). Same as X200 vs. 200s. The X200s also is more expensive than the X200.

I read somewhere that it has a carbon fiber skeletal body and an SSD as standard, so prices are bound to be higher than a regular issue T400.

you dont need dedicated graphics to use HDMI, most new laptops with the 4500 IGP have hdmi and it does well, with blu ray and other hd stuff.

but yea i think you are right about it not including HDMI.

and doesnt "s" stand for slim?

I think we have a winner. The 's' models are rarely smaller in cross section, but they are almost always slimmer in depth and weight.

Ah, well then, looks like I'll be getting the regular T400 then instead unless I can get a good deal on an HP dv3t.
