Plamrest is squeaking. I removed it, reinstalled it many times

I'm sorry to hear that. I have the same problem myself and piss me off no end. Good luck, I suggest you start haunt for a new laptop replacement.

I think it must be a select few. I was reading about this issue and worried about mine which I received last week. Fortunately mine does not have this problem. Maybe you should complain and have it replaced (have them ship a new palmrest first).

how long have you had your thinkpad for is it still under warrenty

Can you describe the squeaking both the location and how it comes about? Are you pressing a certain area, resting your palms somewhere etc.
-
I don't have that on mine thank god. That would annoy me. Even pressing and pushing on it hard it feels solid.

Funny, I haven't visited this forum in years, and come back and read the same issues LOL!!! I had the same with my T60, palm rest under the right hand in the area of finger reader. The fix was easy: loosen up the hard drive screw, than when you tighten it back up you have to keep the plastic cover as far as possible out of the case. Maybe stick your nail in there (from the edge on the top of palm rest on the right side) and than tighten the screw. An extra mil of space in there will take care of squeaking. There is no issues with my 14.1" T60 at work, but the wider 15.4" (and mine 15") has some mechanical tolerance problem where once the hard drive cover pushed all the way in (how it supposed to be) it makes a squeaky noise. Of course, if you have squeaking in a different place, than this fix will not work

I have the problem all over. Exemple, just using the trackpoint mouse make you put pressure on the palmrest. squeaking. Have my fingerprint read. squeaking. Having my left wirst on the palmrest. Squeaking. This is getting me mad (soon I will loose my mind) , after all that money!

Just search "mushy palmrest"
there are solutions -
URGHH!!! SQUEAKY NOISE!!!! is literally driving me crazy too.... seems like a common for most thinkpads... but i found that you can eliminate the squeaking noise to a one time light "thump" noise, just tighten the screw thats next the screw that holds your hard drive cover. You might have to apply a little pressure. but not to much other wise you might crack the casing. Good Luck and i hope there will be no more insane squeaking noise coming from my beloved...
