Is there any chance Lenovo will release the T61p with a DVI/HDMI port?

    And is there/will there be a T61p 14,1" widescreen?

thinkpads are for business,so they dont "need" HDMI(in my opinion),but with new (montevina) series,it might be possible...

and by the way, will the X300 be released with a SATA hdd?

    thanks for the help :)

Uh...unless you mean some other X300 the ThinkPad X300 13" Widescreen notebook was released one or two months ago. I don't think there is a need to add anything to the current models as most are expecting Lenovo to come out with new models following the release of the Montevina platform by Intel. Even then, I don't think an DVI/HDMI port since they have already stated the reason for excluding it is that with the release of DisplayPort in the future, DVI will become old like VGA is now.

I see.. how much time usually passes between thinkpad models? I really need one now, I've been considering the dell xps m1330, but after seeing it I'd much rather have a thinkpad. Thing is, I'd like a 13-14 inch T61p w/ widescreen & dvi/hdmi, which doesn't exist... Is it reasonable to wait for another model or should I just buy something now?

if you need something....then buy it now. i'm not sure that the t61's will get a dvi port anytime soon. you can always get the docking station that has a dvi port though...

Every time Intel comes out with a new platform, the thinkpad will change too.
So you're right, T61 won't get the DVI port, because the next gen of Thinkpad won't be 61 anymore :D

So what is the usual interval between models (or what is the delay between a new Intel platform and a Thinkpad model with it)?

And the other question: is it correct that only the T61, not the T61p, has a 14,1" widescreen version?

And thanks for all your replies :)

i can only partially agree. most if not all projectors now have a HDMI port. most projectors sold (other than home theater) are used in a business environment. we went with another brand at work for our presenter's for this reason. these days i would question anyone who told me that multimedia/graphics/Hi-def is not used in business. Maybe not in some, but definetely part of my business day. Just my opinion of course.

This looks nice.... but I guess it's too long a wait for me. Those X'es are very interesting though.

I'm thinking of going with this:
    http://www.amentio.no/PartDetail.aspx?q=p:1894722

It's in norwegian but I'm sure you can read the specs. The price is about $2300. Only thing (except the dvi) is that it isn't widescreen... but I haven't used a standard screen laptop in a long time, what do you prefer?
