^^^ The article at your link says: Intel will only be delaying the release specifically of mobile Dual-Core Ivy Bridge processors, but everything is more or less on schedule.
Take it for what it's worth, more or less.![]()

According to the article at fudzilla.com, the dual core processors WILL be delayed due to an overstock of Sandy Bridge already in the channel. I suspected that was one of the reasons though I don't see an official Intel press release.
I'm sure they are responding to reactive inquiries only.
So a Quad Core W530 might be ok, but don't count on the T and X series being on time.
Should be a cluster. -
There will be 35W quad-cores which means X and T non-ULV could be quad since they already have the thermal capacity.
-
That would be awesome. Though you can do a quad core T420 now - just buy the processor separately and install it. But for the other series with non-replacable chips, I can't wait for some quad cores to go with my VMs.
-
Yeah thats alot better then q3 or later. At the rate that it crashes Im well past my tolerance but my wallet isnt quite ready. Im thinking at most I could wait til may'ish, although I did just configure one of my options at a much lower price then I expected so I may jump sooner. Plus I wonder with the machines being new the ship times will be longer and the prices will be much higher.
So I guess I have to look into sandy vs ivy benchmark threads...oh and the "duct tape" has been out for a while... -
No. TDP of mobile IB quad-cores are 45W and 55W. The dual-core i7 has 35W TDP.

AnandTech - In Search of the Elusive 35W Ivy Bridge Quad-Core
I doubt quad-core models will make it into X series products since they used surface mounted processors but maybe T. -
^^^ Nothing definite. The article at that link says: The most recent Ivy Bridge roadmap leaks however haven't mentioned anything about a 35W quad-core part.
In the meantime, hopes and dreams are free.

The X1 was originally rumored to get a quad I7 option. AnandTech - Lenovo X1 Announced Alongside An Edge Infused All-In-One I was hoping to see an Ivy Bridge quad option in the X2.
I don't think the X1 has a PGA socket and the CPU is BGA mounted. -

In May 2011 the X1 was rumored to solve world peace. That didn't happen either.
-
It's been very peaceful here in the pinelands.
-
X1 with quad core CPU that is suicide by overheating.
-
I hope to be the first to review S430 + Thunderbolt GPU
-
you are getting the preview unit?
-
What's the phrase again? "Not a consumer ship-level system"?
-
Sometimes dreams come true.
35W Quads are real and being implemented in the new 14" Acer VA40 next month.
Would love to see one of these in the X2 since it has the thermal capacity. -
Absolutely!
Thanks for sharing.

There is also the IdeaPad Y480, wich will come with a Quad-Core too: Lenovo's 14-inch Ideapad Y480 shows up on Amazon
-
^^^ "The rest of the specs are unfortunately unknown but according to previous reports, Y480 packs a rather underwhelming 14-inch 1366x768 screen."
Oh well.
