Hi Everyone,
So I received my W500 right before Christmas and I love it! I have been reloading programs and transferring my life from my old laptop to this one and am about 99% up and running.
BUT this evening I noticed that occasionally my ESC key does not work. I use AutoCAD and the ESC key is used all the time. Its working right now, but the last hour it wouldn't work. I restarted and it worked for a bit, went into AutoCAD and it worked for while but stopped working again. I tried a few other programs where the ESC is used and it wasnt working there. So strange it is on that one key that seems to be acting up. I have had a lot of computers in my life but I have never had an issue like this.
Anyone experience anything like this before? Time for a new keyboard?![]()

Is it stuck-- or anything like that? I got a W500 right around Christmas also and everything was pristine, except for the A key on the keyboard was sticking. It felt like something was underneath it and caused it to not work sometimes.
I haven't had any other probs with the esc key or any other keys though. -
call up lenovo and they will send you a new one

So this evening my ESC Key worked for hours, but all of a sudden stopped again. So I gave it a puff of air (maybe something stuck underneath it but the key itself doesn't feel like it's stuck or anything either) and pushed down harder on the key with a little more force. Well that seemed to have done the trick and it seems to be working again. I noticed there is more flex on that side of the case and keyboard I wonder if something is loose or not connecting right everytime I hit the key. I am about to go out of town so I guess I'll be calling Lenovo when I get back...
So MastahRiz what was your outcome? Were you able to fix the problem, did it go away, or did you contact Lenovo? -
I'll probably be calling them as well, because I haven't found a permanent fix.
Oddly enough, when I remove the plastic 'A' key from the keyboard, there's no debris or glue or anything that would cause it to stick, and when I push the key without the plastic cover, it works fine. The plastic key however is also totally free of dirt or glue or anything else, so I'm assuming the key just isn't shaped properly and is getting stuck somehow because the plastic itself is bent or something.
Pretty lame. -
over lenovo forum they have been sending W500 owners free keyboards the other model
