Lenovo has decided to offer the W510 with something other than a quad core processor. Seems odd to me, but what ev.
What's the difference in it and the T510 with the FHD screen? SS USB 3.0, 880m GPU and some thickness?

4 dimms also ?

The W510 and T510 are the same thickness. So the only differences are the much more powerful GPU (and consequently, a more robust cooling system) and the USB 3.0 card. This is a great idea, though, since many (most, I would even venture to say) people don't need a quad core processor but need a more powerful GPU than the T510 can offer.

Are you certain the W510 has a more robust cooling system? It's been confirmed in this forum and Lenovo's that the machine rapidly heats up to dangerous levels when taxing the cpu and gpu.
Perhaps the dual core option will result in less intense core temperatures under load, while increasing battery life due to the lessened power draw? -
it is probably due to some problem with how the W510 bios managing the thermal system (i.e. fan speed at different temperature level) in the laptop.

Anyone have an ETA for the fix to the heat problems?

That is only known by certain Lenovo engineers and not available to the public.
