I'm looking to get an X200 and on Lenovo's Outlet and they currently have 4 of these configs in stock:

    Lenovo X200 (New)

    Processor Intel® Core™2 Duo P8600 (2.40GHz, 3MB L2, 1066MHz FSB)
Operating System Genuine Windows Vista Business 32
    Outlet Part Number CA7458M3U
    Condition New
    Display 12.1” WXGA (1280 X 800)
Total Memory 1 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory
Hard Drive 160GB, 5400RPM Serial ATA 2.5" Drive
Graphics Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
    Optical Device Optical Not Included
Wireless Intel WiFi Link 5100 (1x2 AGN)
    Mobile Broadband None
Battery 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery (6.5 Hour Run Time)
    Limited Warranty 1 Year Standard
    Color Black
    Bluetooth Yes
    Integrated Camera No
    Fingerprint Reader Yes
Keyboard/Pointing Device UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad)

    ------------------------
SHIPPED TOTAL: $906 (includes free shipping and $34 tax)

This is compared to $1,088.16 Shipped Total for the same configuration on Lenovo's EPP site w/ additional 5% coupon.

It seems like a great deal to me, especially considering it has the 6-cell battery and Bluetooth -- and its a New system. Only thing I would have considered otherwise is the Intel 5300 over the 5100, but I dont think its worth spending more money for that on Lenovo's main site.

I just wanted to get some informed opinions from people here about this outlet deal. If I order from the outlet I'll be sure to save PDFs of the config and confirmation emails in case there's any problems.

    Thanks.

That's a pretty good price for that system, although I think I've seen cheaper.

Well I get $957 before tax new for that system, with a 250 drive, 9 cell bat and free win 7 upgrade that you will not get with the outlet. Now if the outlet x200 arrives with better than advertised specs it would be a better deal however right now I might wait. BTW this price is from spp, click on exclusive offers no coupon code
PM me the code you using and I'll try it, the one I have is not working

Hmm yeah, I got a total of $924.65 before tax/shipping on SPP for that same config, but with the 5300 intead of 5100.

However, with tax and shipping it comes to $1,017 for me.

The 5% coupon code USXBIGSAVINGS only works for me on EPP or the regular site, not SPP. Are there any active SPP codes?

    What's 6 to 1/2?

As for the battery, I actually wanted the 4- or 6-cell to begin with, although I know the 9-cell is being offered for free right now. I'd rather have the less weight no battery sticking out the back.

For OS I will be installing Windows 7 RTM myself, so the OS should just be the cheapest Lenovo offers.

Which would you rather have 6 or 1/2 dozen?
If you don't care about the upgrade pick the default OS and you should save $67 over what I quoted, so down to a $30 difference

Oh yeah, that SPP price I quoted ($1,017) was with Vista Basic already.

This is still about $100 more than the Lenovo Outlet config

And about the 6 or 1/2 dozen thing...I don't get what you mean. I have a feeling something just flew over my head. :p

EDIT: Wait, yeah now I get it. This reminds me I need to get a good sleep tonight.

Hey mbaha, yeah the price sure as hell did drop! I already ordered an X200 from SPP for $988 shipped, but tonight I was browsing the site again and reconfigured the same system, and the total came to $822 shipped...huge drop. I'm so glad I checked back. I created a price quote so I can get the difference credited back to me. And thanks for the heads up! I appreciate it.

    Nick

EDIT: Note to others, you have to order the X200 from the sale banner link at the top of the page for the lowest price, not the regular configuration links.

Hey Nick do me a favor and let us know how the price adjustment goes with Lenovo, I assume you have already created a quote with the $822 price?
My system is not $30 cheaper but I'm not sure if they will price match because it hasn't shipped yet.
    thanks

Sure thing. I created a price quote last night for the $822 price.

On Lenovo's SPP site, configuring the X200 through the "Back to School" banner at the top of the page gives the system a starting price of $704.

    My config:

Intel Core2 Duo processor P8600 (2.40GHz, 3MB L2, 1066MHz FSB) with Intel vPro Advanced System Management
    Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic12
12.1 WXGA, 2x2 UltraConnect II antenna; with Camera and Wireless Broadband Upgradeable
    Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
    1 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM)
    TrackPoint
    250GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm4
    Integrated Bluetooth PAN
Intel WiFi Link 5300 (AGN) with My WiFi Technology10
    Integrated Mobile Broadband upgradable65
    ThinkPad X200 Series 4 cell Li-Ion Battery60
    7454: 1 Year Depot Warranty - TopSeller7

    Total: $755 + ~$67 tax (free shippin) = approx. $823

This is about $170 less than the same config I ordered the other day.

Right now the 250GB Hard drive and 9-Cell battery are also offered for free. I just got the 4-cell though for now since I'm not sure if I'll need the 9 right away, but that free 9-cell is awesome especially with the new lower X200 price.

I also chose Windows Vista Basic because I'm installing Windows 7 myself from Technet. So just have to add a little bit more to the price of course if you need a Vista version that gets you the free Win7 upgrade.

Same thing with the RAM, I bought 4GB from NewEgg instead, much cheaper.

I looked quickly and it seems the base prices of other Thinkpad models has dropped as well.

EDIT: I haven't called Lenovo about the price match yet, I'm waiting until my system ships first as I heard there can be shipping delays if you try to price match before they ship. I'll let you know how it goes next week.

Nice going. Seems like its a simple process. My system still hasn't shipped yet -- waiting for that and then I will call up and request the $180 difference from the quote.

My system shipped and will be here Monday, so I called Lenovo with my quote about a price match. It was pretty easy, so far. The rep took my quote # and then said I would receive a call within 2 business days from someone else at Lenovo who would complete the price match request. For some reason they have to call me back, I guess as time to investigate the quote, etc.

    Hi slicknick1986

I ordered my x200 today through spp site and "back to school". Thank for your info. My estimated ship date is 9/10. I have not receive any confirmed email from lenovo yet. I do not know how long does it take to touch my hands on my laptop. I could not wait :) You said you will receive it on Monday. Could you tell me when did you order ?

Hey rickuj, congrats on the order!

I ordered the X200 on 8/20. The estimated ship date was 9/1, but it shipped on 8/25. I would've probably had it on Friday if I chose 2-day shipping...

As you would read from others on this forum and elsewhere, Lenovo's built times can vary a lot, but with my short-term experience with Lenovo its been very pleasant.

I previously ordered a T400 (which I have since returned to get this X200) and it shipped even faster than my X200 -- merely two days after I ordered. I imagine your X200 will ship quite a few days before 9/10, but don't hold me to that of course. :D

Did you receive a confirmation email yet? I'm pretty sure you get a confirmation email almost instantly, but I guess it can take a few hours sometimes.

Hmm not sure. I got confirmation emails for my previous three orders, all laptops. However, I just ordered a 9-cell battery today and I did not receive a confirmation email yet. You can give them a call to make sure the order went through. I'm sure it did though and the automated email wasn't sent out for some reason or another..

So yesterday a Lenovo rep got back to me by email, telling me the price match was accepted from my quote and refunded the difference to my card. So the price match with Lenovo was really simple, no hassle, it just takes a few days.

rickuj: I also have that RAM that jaredy does, Crucial is your best bet.

    Hi all,
You must enjoy your x200 by now.
My x200 is in ANCHORAGE, AK, US now since 09/03/2009 (1:41 P.M.). I hope to receive it soon. I paid 799.43$ for P8600 (2.4Ghz), 250GB 5400pm HDD, Wifi 5300, 9 cell, including tax. Is it good price ? I could not go lower than that

Cool thanks for the info. My X200 was still $30 cheaper on the SPP site but those are still great prices if you have AmEx

Looks like the free 9-cell battery offer is gone, but has been replaced by $100 savings on the Ultrabase
