I recently purchased a used X201 tablet (i7, 8gb ram, 128gb SSD) and I was hoping some of you could help me out with a few questions I have.

    1) Is there a way to figure out which screen I have? I know there are a few options from the factory.

    2) How much free space should I expect from the 128gb SSD? I tried to delete most, if not all, of the programs that don't seem to have come from the factory. Haven't deleted Corel or Kapersky since I believe those originally came with the laptop. I did some searching and it seems like I should expect 80gb free but the best I can do is 65gb. Any ideas?

    3) I have a 160gb SSD and I'm thinking about installing it but I don't want to lose the recovery partition and ThinkVantage features that are currently on the factory SSD. Any procedure to properly get those features on the new SSD without cloning? (I'd like to do a fresh install).

    4) How can I find if this x201 has the built-in WWAN module?

I think that's all for now! Thanks in advance for the help and happy holidays!

    1) They had a site for this before, but I don't know if it's still up. Some software can also list the parts in the computer. I believe one is called "Everest".

    2) I also have the 128gb SSD. I have 65gb free and have loaded it with maybe 10gb of software/documents so at least 75gb should be possible. If you erased the partition which contains the recovery files so could you get even more.

    3) I don't know. My recovery broke down so I had to do a new clean install. Since Lenovo doesn't issue the recovery discs so did I have to use an Windows 7 DVD for my desktop computer. This is how you do:
    • Fix and Windows 7 DVD or image. I believe that you could download an image for free from MSDN.
    • Use the USB-tool from Microsoft to put the DVD/image on an USB stick (and it becomes bootable)
    • Boot and install it on your x201t and use the key issued by Lenovo on the bottom of your computer to activate Windows 7
    • Download the "Update and Drivers" form Lenovos website and it will automatically locate, dowload and install all the software and drivers!

    4) Either you could open the ThinkVantage software and it tells you if you have it. If you want to install it by yourself, as I did, so have I made a guide about it on TabletPCReview.

HWInfo also tells you what screen panel you have in your ThinkPad. Unlike Everest (which is now superseded by AIDA64), HWInfo is free to use and just as detailed.

If your x201t is under warranty you could call to get recovery dvds free from Lenovo.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll definitely check out that HWInfo software. And unfortunately, the warranty just ended so I can't get the recovery dvds.
