Hi guys
This is like my first post in a long time
I am a medical professional and i bought this laptop because I read rave reviews of its durability etc on the net, and because of its excellent keyboard (i tried it in a store).
It has arrived, and I love it...however....
It seems that the piece of plastic of the palmrest is not a 100% fit to the base. So on the far left, there is a almost imperceptible gap between teh front edge of the palmrest and the front edge of the base where they connect.
Almost insiginficant....EXCEPT that everytime i put my hands on the palmrest to type the palmrest taps onto the base and produces a very slight tapping sound. EVERY TIME I MOVE MY HANDS *TAP*. In a quiet environment its very noticeable and very annoying. I know this is not normal because the right side is rock solid in comparison.
Does anyone else have this strange "feature" in their laptop?
Any advice on how i should fix it? I am thinking of just bloody gluing the top down but that would void my warranty and prevent me from ever removing my palmrest to upgrade components.
Please advise >.<. Thanks all.

That is definitely an assembly issue and you should return your laptop for a repair. I have the same machine and I don't have any such "features".

Try adjusting the screws that you have to remove to take off the palmrest--one or two may be over/undertightened. If that doesn't help solve the situation, contact Lenovo tech support.

Or perhaps one of the clips isn't clipped in all the way. Apply some downward pressure a where the palm rest meets the base on the left side. That may snap it in all the way, but as others have said, it may just be a defect.

Sounds like this could be the problem. Just push down on it with enough pressure and see if it clips into place like it should be. -
Guys i think have fixed the problem
I had a good think about it and I thought this was one of those problems where tech support will umm and ahh and take ages before they do anything, if at all.
So I decided to tear down the thing myself. Lenovo's website actually give good instructions for removal of the keyboard/palm rest.
The cause of the problem i think was a tiny (<0.5mm) mismatch betweeen the palmrest and the base + some issues with screws overtightened. I took out all the screws, pushed the palmrest around abit, and then put the screws back in very gently (like tightning the nuts in a tyre change). Sounds simple but i took apart most of the thing before i found out i only had to do a few screws
The good thing is everything seems like it still works
Thanks for that brilliant person who suggested checking the screw tensions -

Glad it's worked out for you!
