I placed this order using the current discount and the 20% of coupon. This is what I came up with:

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7300 (2.0GHz, 4MB L2, 800MHz FSB)
    Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic
    1 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM) [$0.00]
80GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm Serial ATA (2.5")
    Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG
ThinkPad X60 Series 4 cell Enhanced Capacity Battery
3 year depot 9x5 Next Business Day

I ended up, after tax paying:1,037 with a saving of 550+.

I have looked around and some might be repeated but have attempted to search as well.

    1) Is there any performance difference between if I just put a new 2GB stick for total of 3GB or if I put 2 2GB sticks in for 4GB. I will be running 32 bit so can only use 3GB.

    2) the antenna on the x61, does this work with the normal wireless to get better range or just with WWAN? And how is the effectiveness based on your average laptop without it.

    3) Can I just use a 2GB mem stick and use that as turbo memory as the vista says it can, or would I have had to buy that in the computer to take advantage. Any downfall to using the stick instead?

I will post a review with bench marks after I get it as I update the RAM, HD, and do the fresh install and tweaks to vista. Will be interesting to see how much net gain each one yeilds, going to do tests after each update...

Thanks for the info in advance

    1) 3GB will be fine, but if you wanted to get 4GB since it's pretty cheap you can go that route too.

    2) That external antenna is for WWAN

    3) You got this option confused, the 2GB SD card is for Readyboost and not for Turbo Memory. Intel Turbo Memory is the 1GB stick that is PCI-E that is installed inside your computer. But using the 2GB SD card for Readyboost will definitely speed up a few of your applications run time, therefore, increase productivity *in a sense* and save more power.

    Hope this helps.
