Ok, I'm posting this as a separate thread, since it was so strange.

Currently, we know the 90watt ultraslim does funny things to the touchpad, due to grounding issues. Yesterday I discovered something new.

Upon learning about how to get full power to the headphone jack, I enabled it. I plugged in my 90watt ultraslim and the x220 started making a terrible microphonic whine, like it was screaming, almost. The sound was coming out of the back of the laptop. Also, the battery refused to charge. As soon as I disabled the headphone boost, the laptop accepted the 90watt ultraslim and started charging as normal.

I'm holding on to the 90watt slim for now, since I only use it for charging, but now after this last find, I think I have to get more compatible adapter...

Why not just get the standard 90 watt adapter? I have no such issues with mine. :)

Because I want all the features of the travel ultraslim, like a car charging port, and the ability to charge usb devices.

these problems are related... this is probably due to grounding issues too.
