Cool. Wonder how much battery life an LED screen would garner.

it's good to see the LED upgrade giving a $200 credit over the standard.   it really makes that $9749 T9600 upgrade hurt a little less. :p

Too bad it's still a WXGA 1280x800 screen.

The X200s used to have a 1440x900 LED, and getting that on the faster X200 would be pretty sweet.

Anyone care to venture a guess on IF/WHEN this option will appear on the website based on past Canadian/US offerings? I realize you don't know, but please GUESS!

Zephir, you have put me back into a holding pattern (been waiting for x200s to offer LED again) and potentially thrown my wife into a rage (tired of sharing her T500 with me).

Anyway, how does that X200 led screen compare to the 1440 X 900 that WAS offered on the X200s...is it the same? Also, why is it $200 less than the non led option?

Wow. I'm kind of sad now. I just ordered an x200... I've been waiting for ages for the x200 to have a LED backlight.

I wonder how much it will cost...

12.1 WXGA TFT w/ LED BL [subtract $200.00]

    Why is it $200 cheaper?

I'm sure that is a mistake.

It really does, doesn't it? :p

Usually when Lenovo USA gets new configuration, it takes about one month later for Lenovo Canada to get those configurations. So now that the situation is reversed, I would venture that it's going to take at most one month.
I'm guessing that the price of the LED screen is a mistake, just like the over $9000 CPU options.
I doubt that anybody has the screen yet, so it's only possible to speculate how good it is compared to the LED screen on X200s
Also, a disclaimer. I'm not responsible for you and your wife getting into an argument :p

I assumed it would be the same one from the X200s or at least the same one, albeit different dimensions, used on a different lenovo notebook.

How more is an LED screen normally? say when you had both options on the x200s
Does a LED backlight screen look better?

Usually has better contrast ratios, brightness and uses less power (more battery life).

I think it can also be thinner and lighter. Also they are supposed to be more durable and last longer than CCFL backlights.

They can be thinner, but lenovo won't take advantage of that unless they redesign the LCD rollcage and plastics (see X30x and T400s series) for a new model. The T400 with LED BL displays have the same roll cages/plastics/thickness as the CCFL counterparts.
