Hi all. Just recently got my t500. Love it, except for the one stuck pixel.
First thing I did was to create my recovery disk, using a screw driverSwapped out the drive for another, and installed dual-boot ubuntu/win7. Everything works great, except that I'm a little curious as to whether I got the wireless card that I asked for.
Ubuntu thinks that I have a 5100, and w7 simply marks it as "unknown", though it does work (most of the time).
Is there any other way, short of opening up the laptop (not even sure where it is, wrt to what part I need to open), to verify that I do, indeed, have the 5300 that I asked for?
Thanks in advance.

In Windows, type "Device Manager" in the Start Menu, and open it up. Then, expand the "Network adapters" category, and you should see "Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN" as one of the listed devices if you do indeed have it.

Great. That worked. I'm a win7 newb, and didn't know my way around.
Windows shows 5300, so must just be an Ubuntu thing.
Thanks, appreciate the help. -
In Ubuntu did you use lspci and lshw -C network?

I ran lspci and also the hardware test in system->admin. Both show "5100". lshw shows the same (I hadn't tried it before).
No biggie, I guess, since everything appears to be working OK, and I do, indeed, have a 5300.
Thanks. -
Hello,
here is something you can try for your stuck pixel, if you haven't already.
(Just don't look directly at the screen while doing this if you happen to be an epileptic.)

Flashing color video:

Download, and run the video from the link above. Drag the video window on top of the stuck pixel, and leave it running for awhile.
Udead Pixel 2.2:

This program will put a flashing pixel on the screen. Just like the video file in the previous link drag it on top of the stuck pixel and leave it there for awhile.
It can take some time, anywhere from 20 minutes or more. Some recommend overnight.
Good luck!
