I just purchased a new to me t60. It has 1.83 ghz dual core, 3 gig ram, 60 gig 5400 rpm hard drive, and ATI X1300 graphics.
I plan on adding one gig of ram, but other then that, are there any recommended upgrades?

Is it possible to upgrade the processor?

The T60 maxes out at 3GB of RAM anyway, so you won't benefit from adding one gig.

For sure, upgrade the hard drive.

    The CPU is indeed upgradable.

The fastest processor for T60 is T7600

I am wondering if I can pull the core 2 duo out of my old ASUS F32 and drop it into the thinkpad. I have Artic silver compound. Thanks.

well which Core 2 Duo CPU does your ASUS have? you need to give us more specific information than just tell us the generic brand name of CPU? There are two socket version of Core 2 Duo, and you can only use Socket M with FSB of 667 mhz.

    Its a T7500
The socket in the asus is mPGA478MN

According to notebook check tech, they have the same sockets. Unfortunately, the t7500 has a 800 mhz FSB, so I am guessing it wont work.

    T7500 is a socket P not socket M.

    Socket M are T7200, T7400, T7600.
