I just got the y570 last week, and so far I've just updated the nvidia drivers to the current one 296.10

anything else to update? bios, intel gpu, etc? or does it already have the latest stuff already for all that?

You can check the drivers page to see if you need/want to update anything else: Lenovo Support - Drivers & Downloads

Since the laptop has been out for while, most of them should be up to date.

Print out the page that AboutThreeFitty included in his post, and carefully check each driver version, against the ones included in your Y570. Especially your BIOS version. I think you should have V2.09 in your new Y570 as shipped. The BIOS on the support site is older than that.

If you really want to check for the "latest and greatest" drivers, simply go to the Control Panel, open the Device Manager, find the driver that you want to "check out". Under the driver tab, click on "Update Driver". Choose "Search Automatically", and if there is a newer version, from an approved resource it will download it. See my included examples below.

that site keeps getting spammed around, why is that?
if he's posing a bios that invalidates our warranty, then he's liable for legal repercussions for that.

And why do you keep changing your handle on this forum?

NO, strike that. You're not changing your handle. You're creating new ones.
