and where is the mic placed? this laptop was hand carried by my relative and just sold to me, so i dont have any documentation of it.

Yes there are different keyboard types and LCDs for the X60/X61:

However, since you seem to be new to computers, I think the last thing you should be thinking about is keyboard manufacturers. Besides, it is really a personal preference and many people cannot even tell the difference between the different types of keyboards. Both are very good. In general most people have a preference for NMB keyboards on their ThinkPads, but recently a few people have posted their preference for Chicony. My suggestion: Don't bother thinking about it. Many people on NBR are "enthusiasts" who at times are a bit too picky and tend to also exaggerate. Many normal users will not even notice or understand what they are talking about, let alone agree.

The documentation you are referring to is found on your computer, unless your relative deleted the software.

The mic is located at the bottom right hand corner, just below the arrow keys. If you need to find further info about the misc hardware features, I suggest you take a look at the Help Center, found under ThinkVantage group.

Further documentation can be downloaded from the Lenovo web site, or you could run a factory system restore (search for how) which will install the help files again.

To see if the battery is full, you can use either the Windows battery indicator or the ThinkVantage Power Manager battery gauge. I don't understand your question about how long you should charge it the first time. Did your relative not sell it to you second hand? Regardless, here is a good guide which I suggest you read:

My general comments however are, do not overdo it and spend too much time on managing your battery. The notebook is supposed to be a tool for you, not the other way around. Also read these threads:

I suggest you read the documentation/help files and get to know your computer a bit better. Brush up on PC basics and don't pay to much attention to the more detailed things at first. Search and learn. Good luck.

yeah, he included 2 battery and one of them is brand new.
thanks a lot for your advise, i think i've spent too much time on the detail than actually using the laptop.
