USB 3 seems unlikely since Intel delayed it until 2011 and the notebooks are using Intel chipsets.

    Yay! more speculation!!

There is one thing I can say for sure with certainty: It's these "news" sites are sharing inconsistent differing information, so take it all with a grain of salt (or no actually, several...)

They also list the w510 as being 15.6", 16:9, AND 1920x1200 (16:10). Clearly something is wrong here. The T410s is also being listed with a 35w TDP processor (this seems unlikely due to potential heat issues).

Therefore, I wouldn't put too much stock into the specs being accurate.

this is a forum.... people whom reports this information is just like you and me, you shouldn't be using any information from members as a concrete evidence, since no one other than Lenovo employees know what the new products will be.

It's funny to see how fast such speculations end up as facts in online stores.

Official resellers (like in the other thread's first post) could have information about hardware specs, but definitely not some random stores like notebooksandmore.

i think this is well possible, if it is an arrandale cpu (more space for the heat spreader, since the north bridge is integrated in the cpu). and the 35w tdp is probably the upper maximum that the notebook has to be designed for, for when the cpu overclocks.

not universally valid. for an example, several recent intel and amd cpus, as well as the latest graphics cards have been spotted at price matching sites and online shops with accurate details first.

i'd not take the details from shopping sites as facts. but then again, i wouldn't take lenovos advertisements as fact either: if i remember correctly, in the beginning there were quite a lot of errors and misinformation given by lenovo on the t500/t400 series.

for me the details are accurate only when nbr reviewed them =).

ah, i just remembered one thing: i once asked this particular shop for details on a notebook model, because the information about the screen resolution was ambigous. the guy editing the details there just seems to have no clue about screen resolution.

... i just clicked the first w500 listed there. yay, there is no such thin as "WUXGA+", at least not on a w500.

I actually dont think it's a surprise that outlets like these end up leaking these sorts of specs first. It happens all the time, even on sites like amazon.com when items are loaded into their product databases before official release dates have arrived.

BTW, notebooksandmore is a Lenovo Premium Business partner in Germany.

I've lived in Germany, but can't vouch for these guys personally, though they look legit. Remember, dont judge a book by its cover (or its silly name) :p

Under ORT (CITY) you can enter: Bochum and they are listed right there. "Think About It GmbH" is the name of the business that runs notebooksandmore.

The information in the html tables is probably just keyed in by a student hired to input stuff and to be taken with a bucket of salt.

    But things like
look very much like the usual cryptic Lenovo-issued product description strings found in their (or wholesale) databases..

The new processors have the north bridge integrated into them and thus absorb their TPD. So a processor TDP in a Capella platform cannot be directly compared to a previous generation mobile platform.

Also, with the way the new power management works, the TDP is more a "performance" rating that defines how fast any of the processors can get. Most of the time the processor will operate far below that power rating unless demand exists for more power!

Is having a modem still useful to people? It's not to me but I hang around in wifi available places.

Exactly. It's very cheap, and in case you have to use it someday you will praise Lenovo for keeping that feature.

Could the modem be used for faxing? How hard would it be to simply include a cheap USB modem with the package?

I can think of plenty of other 'very cheap' and much more useful features that I would rather have for the money; better speakers, digital audio output or Bluetooth to name three.

Better speakers are not very cheap - maybe cheap to produce, but not to develop or license.
    Digital audio output: you're right
Bluetooth: Should become a standard feature, not a "we want additional $20" thing you need to watch while buying a new machine.

some companies don't allow the use of bluetooth in their machines, due to security reason, while other people don't have bluetooth devices. But for me i like to have bluetooth standard, even if it is once in a blue moon that i use it for something.

T410 sucks big time = NO DIGITAL VIDEO PORT!

It's bad enough the rest only have a display port but at least they have a digital port.
