    I have a T61, which uses a Core 2 Duo T7500 @ 2.2 GHz. Why then does VPC 2007 not recognize that my system has hardware-assisted virtualization enabled? I went into the BIOS, under Config--CPU, and enabled Intel Virtualization Technology (VMM). However, when i go into VPC 2007, in the Options section I see "Hardware-assisted virtualization is not available on this computer". Why?

    The only thing I could think of is that I have this in my XP SP3 startup options:

    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /noexecute=alwaysoff /fastdetect

    Could this be my problem? Should I clear the noexecute stuff?

    That doesn't answer my question. I do use VMWare. However, I want to reap the benefits of hardware-assisted virtualization.

    i know but you can at least see if VMWARE detects the IVT or not.

    I looked at my bios the other day and noticed the virtualization was turned off which surprized me. It came turned off from the factory.

    Yeah - you have to reenable it AND shut down the PC. That fixed it for me this morning.

    good deal. old news, not related but Virtual PC has a Service pack out that fixed some client issues.

    now you'll be able to run as many lindows copies as you want.
