Since installing Windows 7 64 on my z61t the power manager choices are missing from the menu. On the Basic view I can move the slider between High Performance and High Energy savings and that works, but if I switch to Advanced view there are no profiles listed and if I create a new one it does not show up either. The registry values are present in \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg\PowerPolices, but when I create a new one, no new registry key is created.

Also, if I look at the Windows Power manager, under More Power Options the Balanced plan is repeated about 10 times.

    Thoughts?

Have you tried installing both the Power Management driver and the Power Management Utility?

You can get them both from the Lenovo driver download page, install the driver first and then the utility.

Yes, of course. I have installed them both and was careful to do all of the driver and Thinkvantage app installs in a particular order, as I have experience with this not working in the past.

Oh, well in that case I'm not sure. I guess I'm almost in the same boat as you because I have an X200 with a clean install of Win7 64-bit. So far I've only had a couple of little problems though. Hopefully someone else with an x61t can jump in.. maybe it's a driver thing that Lenovo will fix.

Click the advanced button on the upper right on power manager to get the schemes back. I'm guessing your in basic mode as that is the default option.

um, as I mentioned in the first post, I have switched between Basic and Advanced mode. It's in Advanced mode where there are no power schemes listed. Am I misunderstanding you?

Does anyone know, where the registry stores information about changing the power plan in Windows 7 64-bit? I am writing a program and I can not find it. Please help.

i read that lenovo is dropping thinkvantage support on w7. i've never used a thinkpad before but i believe that was anice program. all utilities could be launched from a single window.

They only dropped apps they deemed not needed in Win 7 (like presentation director). Power Manager is still there, same with Access Connections and others.
