Hi All,
I had received my Lenovo y550 some time ago loaded with windows 7 64 bit. But surprisingly i wasnt provided with the Windows 7 Home Premium installation disk. Also my Partitions are something like
C: 252 GB
D: 30.2 GB
The remaining is for Lenovo one key recovery s/w(I know that).
Now my questions are :
1) what is the difference between a system recovery, system image, backup?
2) Is lenovo one key recovery different from windows recovery?
3) I have the product key with me can I make a genuine copy of my Windows 7?
4) I have installed tons of software in my laptop. Will they all go?
5) I have two folders inside my C drive Program files(x86) and Program files, what are these?
6) Can i partition my hard drive according to my need without loosing Lenovo one key recovery.
I am new to all these. Your help will be much appreciated.. Thanks a lot in advance... and apolozies for so many questions![]()

This should be moved to the Lenovo forum.

Most PCs don't come with recovery discs these days. Most manufacturers make you burn off the recovery dscs, which are not Windows CDs, but will restore your machine to its factory state. If you can find a Windows CD you could install and use your key.

As Zaz stated most PCs nowadays do not come with recovery CDs, with that said I have found the built in notebook recovery to be more than sufficient.
One Key Recovery and the windows built in recovery are different. I have not played with the software yet, but I believe that the Image of One key recovery can be updated. This way you will not lose all the new software you installed.
Program Files (x86) is the default directory for most 32 bit programs. The regular Program Files directory is for 64 bit programs.
Lastly I would warn against partitioning your hard drive as it may break One Key recovery.
No Windows 7 CD!!!
