I'm looking at new notebooks and I'm down to two models. The HP Dv7t and the Lenovo Y730. The Dv7t have people tripping over themselves to praise and discuss problems but nothing much for the Lenovo Ideapads.

Are the Ideapads not that great or what's the story? I know it's a new line for Lenovo and maybe people are not taking the chance of buying one. The Y730's are pretty well matched spec-wise with the Dv7t and cheaper until HP offers a coupon then they are almost equal in price.

I looked at the Dv5t and went with the Lenovo Y510. I've been very happy with the Y510 and it has some nice features but there are some things that bug me like not being able to purchase a spare battery.

I notice they don't offer a spare battery when ordering but then the Lenovo configuration is severely lacking compared to Dell's and HP's websites. Heck when 'configuring' a 17" laptop they offer a 15" backpack.

After my whole HP overheating/BSOD problems, I'd go with Lenovo just because they produce the Thinkpads. I haven't tried an Ideapad myself, but the reviews look good.
