It appears that Lenovo has stopped selling the 15 inch 4:3 aspect ratio T60. They only list the 14" XGA and SXGA+ as well as the 15.4 Widescreen in regular and T60p configurations. I hope they haven't been discontinued as the 15" flexview IPS was one of the better screens on the market.

It also looks like the 14" is priced higher than the 15.4" widescreen which is kind of odd. I think the 14" T60 may be next up on the chopping block... :(

Here's the link for anyone interested

Yeah looks like they may decide to move completely away from standard 4:3 aspect laptops now. Widescreen is pretty much the direction the market has gone today because the majority prefer widescreen. Yes there are plenty out there I'm sure that think 4:3 is much better as well but I'm afraid we're seeing the end of standard aspect displays on the market.

It is sad really. I use mine mainly for multimedia so the widescreen is why I have it. However my last laptop was a standard aspect and it is much more beneficial to business users, especially because of the increased height.

Well it depends on what kind of business you're into. For a lot of business users the widescreen is going to be more beneficial because you can have applications opened up side by side and you've also got room to view more columns such as in Excel.

I wonder if they are going to come up with some sort of wide viewing angle WS display to replace the flexview 4:3 option.

I want to puke. If they're really ending 4:3 production, what an idiotic decision... anyone who works with text files does not want a widescreen. I thought ThinkPads were still for people who actually do work.

There is no advantage for SXGA over WSXGA on a 15" notebook since both offer 1050 vertical resolution. For a 14" SXGA+ would be superior to WXGA+ for things like Office or internet where the vertical resolution is more important. I'd agree a WSXGA+ IPS would be nice.

maybe they want us to lean on the R series if we want some 4:3-love

wsxga+ips+led backlighting would be fun :)

I was going to say these shortages smacks of a model changeover but it's more likely they had a large corporate order and are allocating the screens temporarily down that channel. I wouldn't be surprised that they come back to the order site soon.

It could be a temp thing for supply issues, who knows... I'd say there isn't much advantage to the 15" 4:3 without flexview, hence my ending up with a WS...

When I called Lenovo regarding a price match for my laptop, they said that the 15.4" WS T60 is no more =[
