I just got a call from a Lenovo sales rep asking me about a price quote I made a week ago and the OS I chose was XP Professional. I didn't actually buy it so she asked me if I wanted to do it now because they will stop offering XP by June 15th. Anyone know if there is any truth to this or are the sales people just trying to make a sale?

nope, it's true, but i thought it was june 30th. winxp is going fade away. i did read though that winxp on tiny laptops, like the asus eee, is going to stay for a little longer. but on most machines, come next month, winxp isn't going to be offered anymore; no more pre-installed xp.

Which means drivers will be harder and harder to come by as time goes on. :(

I don't mind Vista too much, I already run it on my desktop. But I did read some reports that vista takes more battery life. Is this true?

It is too bad they are filtering out XP. I guess now its on to looking forward to Windows 7 and hoping that it is that much better than Vista.

II thought it was June 30th as the cutoff for retail sales, but I thought OEMs could go beyond that. Regardless, you have another option (I think). f you want XP PRo as an OS, just get the Vista Business or Ultimate. It comes with the option for an XP Pro downgrade. THe XP revovery discs came with mine and the last time I checked the order page, the XP disc option popped up when selecting VistaBusiness.
