We don't know. :) Personally, i think we'll see at least some models earlier (e.g. the X210t).

T410s is coming next January. There's this chart somewhere in a thread here that was originally from Engadget.

my guess that there is no way T400s or T410s will ever have dedicated graphics. That would be cannibalizing vanilla T400 sales and its just not a computer designed for powerful graphics. The main point of T400s is portability. If anything i can only see it being similar update that x300 got with x301.

yea i also dont think they will have dedicated graphics anytime soon judging from that (if correct)roadmap

but portability isnt a reason in itself to exclude trying to make a better laptop with as much goodies as one can possiby fit anyway. the idea is that it should be a choice available to customers should they want it. that helps sales more.

sony has a small and powerful laptop line with dedicated graphics and a dvd drive. I certainly think thinkpad can make that also. Plus theres too many thinkpad lines right now imo. I think they can streamline these models better and eliminate some models that are frankly overlapping too much. e.g. theres no point of the R400 (definately without dedicated graphics) and T400 (can have dedicated but choose not to) models, for example. They share too many similarities. there should be better differentiation between the lines so that customers can go 'ok yes, this series is definately different to this', rather than a 'oh thats the 100 bucks cheaper version' of what is essentially the same product.

    i agree with useroflaptops
they should either take out the R400 or make it more distinct.
and Lenovo can definitely have a smaller laptop with dedicated graphics for the T series. They have one for the Ideapad, the U330 is 13.3in and has integrated AND discrete graphics card like the T400 so why cant they put in the T400s with a 14.1in platform?!!

i'd almost consider waiting for the t410/t410s in january
but from what ive read i'm not sure the early-release calpella platform stuff will be ideal
would maybe have to wait until second half of 2010 for the meat-and-potatoes calpella stuff to surface

this may be off topic but:

would the t400s be good enough to run dual monitors and watch dvd movies on the external monitor? would it be good enough for youtube videos and powerpoint videos and such? I am just weary about the integrated graphics. I hope it will be able to run windows 7 well

normally the point of discrete graphics is 3D acceleration. For the things you described the integrated video works just fine. I run my switchable T400 on integrated video most of the time just to keep the thing cooler. No problems at all running aero in vista which is by itself a bit demanding. The things you described are probably just the thing T400s was designed for.

Flash relies more on the CPU than GPU. Don't worry about integrated graphics if you aren't gaming or doing any 3D graphics work.
