I'm just wondering whether the noise level is different between the R61 and the T61, as well as between different speed processors (all Centrino Duos, just different speeds). I've played with an R61 w/ a 1.5 GHz Duo and it was extremely quiet (and cool), and I'm wondering if the same can be said for a T61 w/ a faster processor. Thanks so much for the help.

The main source of running noise I found with my past T series note books (I currenly have a T61p on order) was the GPU, under load there was some noise but it wasnts horrific by any means.

Thanks for the response. I plan on getting the integrated graphics and won't be doing intensive gaming or anything, so it hopefully shouldn't be an issue for me. Thanks again.

I wouldn't know my T61 was running unless I was using the DVD drive - it is loud when it spins up, but this isn't really uncommon with high speed drives.
The fan is super quiet, The only sign it was even going was the stream of air I could feel on the side. I had it in the library the other day, and could not hear it. I was very impressed since my sisters gateway sounds like a 747 after using mine. I can not even hear the hard disk chatter unless I stick my ear right up to the case.

For temp, I stay consistently at 46-48.

I have the Quadro graphics btw.
