Just got my T61P today and I was wondering about the dvd-rom drive. Are they all this noisy? Mine makes very loud click/scratch... Not really a click or a scratch noise, but something i've never heard in a laptop drive before... It works fine, but it's very annoying.

    Thanks!

They do make a lot of noise, mine sounds like its scraping up and down on something while its reading/writing. Going under the cd rom properties in the bios lets you set it a lower setting which makes it operate quieter. It makes it slower though.
