    Hi All,

Anyone know if the non-Lenovo batteries are any good? Or is it worth it to shell out a bit more for the proprietary batteries.

    Thanks

What is a non-Lenovo battery? You are not being very specific.

My T520 shipped with a battery manufactured by Panasonic.

9 cell battery from Hong Kong for $43 with free shipping on eBay.

Another brand I saw was DSTE 9 cell for $40 free shipping.

    Cheers

Typically, non-genuine batteries are nowhere near the quality of a genuine one. They might die out on you after a significantly less number of cycles/not last as long as a genuine one would. But then again, you are paying a fraction of the cost.

Thanks. After some reading, I've decided to play it safe and go Lenovo off ebay. $100 for a 9 cell, rather than $178 from Lenovo.

My original battery died at the 1.5 year mark. The newer one however is non-genuine, but has just passed the 1.5 year mark as well. personally i'd go with the cheaper one if you use AC most of the time like me, but if you really want the extra hours go for the legit one.

i got mine on eBay and it was like 35. Lasts for about 1.5 hours (lol im noticing a trend) with minimal stuff going on. Hard core gaming, it lasts like 20 minutes or so.

this is coming from a T61p

It's not only the lower capacity / life span but the RISK of EXPLOSION you'll have to be aware of. For me, safety is worth a lot more than $200.
