I've noticed that when I am in Firefox and a few other programs that the top of the screen (where the tool bars are) is usually a few different shades of gray. Starting on the left as a light gray then getting darker as you look right, or vice a versa. I have attached a few pictures to show what I am talking about. I have the 14.1" SXGA screen, and I am wondering if this is normal of if anyone else has noticed it on their screen.

Check to see if your display is set to 32 bit color.

It should be a problem with either the programs or a graphics bug because even if I move the windows around the different shades are there. So the problem is not with say the pixels in the left side of laptop being damaged as I had previously believed.

Looks like upgrading to ie 7 may solve this. Undacovabrotha10 let me guess you have ie 6? I'll upgrade to ie 7 and let you know if it resolves the problem since windows is built around Explorer upgrading it should solve the problem.

I had ie 7 and did not experience that problem with it, just firefox and a few other apps(such as office), but changing color in my desktop properties to 32bit seemed to have fix the problem. It is still light gray on the left portion of the screen but now fades smoothly to a dark gray on the right, I guess that is just the way it was designed.

Here is the fix, have you some how changed your themes around or changed the appearance settings if so changing the theme to a default one like ie. the windows xp theme and changing back will fix it. Some how when we change the bacground or mess around with the display settings it gets messed up I guess. I upgraded to ie 7 it did help though but didn't eliminate the problem. The problem is with your windows theme OK so do the above.
