Running Vista Business 32 bit on my T-400 with 9 cell battery, thresholds set to 95 and 50, I note overnight while still plugged in and placing laptop in standby for 8 hours or so, over several nights, I lose 3-4 percent of battery charge. Since it is set not to charge until below 50%, I asume this is normal to lose a little charge even while plugged in while in standby. is this the case or is my battery not acting properly and thanks.

Unlike hibernation or a full shutdown, putting your notebook into standby consumes a small amount of power to keep the session in active memory.

Yep, I think I've read it's about 1% per hour when sitting in standby... but I suppose this may vary with model... I tend to hibernate it unless I plan to get back to it within a couple of minutes.

he said that it's still plugged in while in standby,

i wouldn't worry about it too much as batteries tend to lose their charge by themselves over a period of inactivity

well... you can expect the battery to charge differently each time..
my y530 with the battery managment software would sometimes charge to 97% and stop...
i think it is just a way to preserve the battery to make it last longer. (lifespan wise.. not battery life)
