Today I got my T61 back: the heatsink was replaced. I don't hear the annoying noice anymore. I bought this computer four years ago and I hope it will last at least two additional years.
Now, a friend of mine told me to install a program called "Core Temp". I did and right now the temperature flows between 55 and 75 degrees Celcius for each core. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? I'm touching the computer and it's not particularly hot.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Those temperatures seem quite hot if they're idle temps. My 14.1" T61 ranges 41-45c on idle with a T9300 and Power Optimised profile. If it's a Merom chip I say expect 45c-55c idle ranges.
If you changed the heatsink yourself then ensure that there is a fresh set of thermal compound, the CPU had been cleaned of the previous one (use Isopropyl Alcohol or TIM Cleaners) and the heatsink is installed securely on.

I didn't replace it myself: I called Lenovo and they told me where to take it. Again, I don't feel the laptop is particularly hot and it seems to me it's even less noisy than a couple of years ago. ¿Perhaps the program I downloaded isn't good enough. Does anyone know of a better way of finding out the temperature?
Thanks
