I recently installed PC Wizrad 2008 (after getting bogged down trying to get TPFC to work) and gota CPU idle temp of 80 degrees C and a GPU idle temp of 72 C.

This could not by any means be normal, could it?

    Regards

For idle temps that's way too much. When was the last time you cleaned the fans of the laptop?

I've got a Core 2 Duo T7500 and the CPU idles at 44 C. GPU idles at 54 C. Both peak at around 85 C. those temps are definitely not normal and you should consider cleaning the fans.

Yep I idle in the 40C range as well. I recommend you check out Chaz's cooling guide. I think you need to blow your fan out with compressed air. Just make sure your laptop is off when you do this so you don't damage the fan.

72c idle is definitely not normal, unless you're using the "Performance" profile where the idle clock speed is at the max. Also, what program are you using to read the temp? Try HWMonitor.
