Just so you know, if you are a Comcast customer, you get McAfee for "free".

I don't like Norton for antivirus. I used it for a couple years and its virus detection was not bad but is was a resource HOG.

NOD32 is resource awesome friendly and actually has better virus protection than Norton.

I can not recommend NOD32 highly enough. You won't be sorry for switching.

I've used PC Cillin. Not as good as NOD32. I've tried lots of antivirus, firewall, security stuff etc. over the last 8 years. NOD32 was a gem. It was recommended to me by a friend and I've never looked back.

I like to let people know about it because norton and mcafee seem to be everywhere but they really stink in comparison. Kinda irks me that such shoddy products have such mainstream success.

Another product I'm unhappy with is Zonealarm, another resourch HOG. Outpost pro kicks Zonealarm's butt. I used zonealarm for years, but it slowly got more and more bloated until my computer started taking more time to boot, etc. Ridiculous.

I use Symantec Corporate Edition. Its very unobtrusive and you never notice it is even there. Everything is done by itself, if it finds something it prompts you but thats pretty much the only time you see it.

Just got my new T60p and had same thought to uninstall Norton. Is it OK to just use the uninstall function in Windows? Last time I tried to uninstall Norton from my old Thinkpad it completely messed up my computer and I ended up having to reinstall Windows?

nod 32+ sygate firewall= golden combination.
i have access to norton/mcafee/f-secure/avast (direclty from ics department). but after trying all of them, my conclusion tells me nod 32 is the way to go.

but seriously, rely on ur anti virus is the last resort. in the most cases, if your computer has virus, the best way is to clean reinstall. imo, a good firewall is a must.

I use the Symantec Antivirus 10 corporate edition that is provided free through my school. It doesnt use much resources and I have not had any problems with it as of yet. Maybe its because it is majorly slimmed down from the retail version. It has a plain basic interface and the only add-on it seems to have is live update.
