    Hi,
I am looking at the x220, and the norwegian models, but I am unable to find much details about each of the models. But I have found one model that I am insterested in: NYG36MN
This I think is the US model: 4291-2VU

Could anyone verify that or got a listing of the norwegian/EU models with what specs that they have?
I am most interested in which screen that they have as I am interested in the premiun option.

Lufen, you can check the Tabook for the specifications of that particular model. Specifically it's on page 149/172.

I have, but it does not list the norwegian models, just the US models.
Model 4291-2VU is the US model I want, but I wonder if the model NYG36MN is the same, as I want the Premium screen and none of the norwegian shops lists what type of screen and neither does the norwegian lenovo site.

    Any news here?
I have almost the exact same question here in Sweden. I want to make sure that this version really has the Premium HD display before I order it. Neither Lenovo or the resellers states this info:

4291-36G = NYG36MS here in sweden (NYG36M N in Norway I guess due to diff. keyboard layout). Not found in tabook which I guess only show US-variants?!

    Link to Lenovo:
Lenovo - Laptops - Sweden (SE)

Link to one of the swedish shops:
    Lenovo ThinkPad X220 4291 - Core i7 2620M 2.7 GHz - 12.5" TFT(NYG36MS)

Can someone help out with this question: HD or HD Premium display?

The same problem exists here in Finland, you cannot really know much about the models in the stores, because they use these cryptic codes that are not found anywhere else.

Lenovo sites lists SOME of them. But for example, shops here lists many X220 models, and only a single one is found on the Finnish Lenovo site. So it is impossible to find out anything through the web.

The only way I have found out things is to write to the shop directly. They can usually confirm information with Lenovo. So write to those online stores and check if they can help you answer the questions you have.

I have now checked with one of the biggest shops here in Sweden and according to them, none of their 7(!) x220 thinkpad in the store has IPS panel. :( Only the x220 tablet in this shop (which I am not interested in) have this IPS panel. It seems a little bit strange that all available models are missing this nice IPS panel?! I am still waiting for answer from two other shops to see if they have the same bad info.
The available models in the shop is:

    Without IPS:
    Lenovo ThinkPad X220 4290-2WG - 2,6GHz DC 4GB 320GB DVD±RW 12,5"
    Lenovo ThinkPad X220 4291-28G - 2,5GHz DC 2GB 250GB 12,5"
    Lenovo ThinkPad X220 4291-36G - 2,7GHz DC 4GB 320GB 12,5"
    Lenovo ThinkPad X220 4291-37G - 2,5GHz DC 4GB 320GB 12,5"
    Lenovo ThinkPad X220i 4287-37G - 2,1GHz DC 4GB 320GB 12,5"
    Lenovo ThinkPad X220 4291-2BG - 2,7GHz DC 4GB 160GB DVD±RW 12,5"
    Lenovo ThinkPad X220 4291-2XG - 2,6GHz DC 4GB 320GB 12,5"

    With IPS:
    Lenovo ThinkPad X220 Tablet 4299-2PG - 2,5GHz DC 4GB 160GB 12,5"

Anyone who could give a second opinion if this info really could be correct?

I am now questioning if I should start look for another laptop or wait for a possible IPS introduction in Sweden later.....

That seems to be the same as what I have found out now.
None of the i7 models here seems to have the IPS screen. but NYF2WMN(4290-2WG) ( ? ADVANCE ? Lenovo ThinkPad X220 ?. This seems to be the only IPS model I can find in Norway.

But I am not certain, as very few of the norwegian models have much information about them.

Also I emailed the lenovo shop, and they told me that the NYF2WMN type of model names is not for the X220, but for some older machines. The correct type of model names is the 4290-2WG type.
Which is funny, as all of the norwegian shops lists the NYF2WMN type of model name.
If it was not hard enough to order this laptop :/

    what a mess!
I also found the 4290-2WG which is called NYF2WMS here in sweden. The strange thing is that it states "multi-touch TFT" in the display info in some shops here in Sweden. AFAIK there are no multitouch non tablet x220?! Could that be an incorrect translation to be a Premium display?! This computer is a lot more expensive than other x220 models. So maybe this one has Premium display? Or it could be due to that it maybe has an optical drive included as well as some shops states. I really wish lenovo had a nordic online shop as it is the US.

I also got an answer from another shop stating that none of the above models has the IPS display. But they are looking into if any model is coming in the near future with ips display.

There is not touch screen for the X220 non tablet so that is wrong :)
I have found some wrong entries here in norway to, like 6 cell when lenovo site says 9 cells etc.
    Its really a mess :/

I miss Apples way, do you want small, big or bigger screen, or a build to order webshop yeah. I have played a bit with the US shop for lenovo and I like it, just to bad I cant get that in Norway.

I did a little digging. The model number 4290-2WG seems to have the IPS panel. The other model code is NYG2Wxx where xx depends on country (MS for finland, GE for germany, etc).

A swedish webshop says it is a multi touch display, which of course cannot be true . However, a german web shop lists it as having a "Premium display". Premium is the word used in the tabook for the IPS display.

Nice! Hope you will be satisfied with the screen anyway. You are more than welcome to share your first impressions when it arrives. I am still hesitating of how to do...
I also got an answer from one shop that they maybe could make a special order from Lenovo if I know exactly which model of the X220 I am interested in.
Is it possible that the tabook models could be ordered to Europe/Scandinavia as well (but with Swedish keyboard), or are these models only to US customers?

btw, good find lenardg. I will dig further into that here from Sweden as well, as the shops here in sweden said that none of the models included IPS panels...

I think they can theoretically order anything for you. When I bought my T500 it was ordered by the webshop, assembled in China, and sent to Finland (took about 3 weeks to get it). So although it was a "predetermined" configuration, it needed to be custom ordered and built. So I guess it would be possible to order anything that is in the US tabook, for example. It would just depend on the shop how far they are willing to go in serving you.

Keyboards are not a problem, because all X220 would use the same keyboard. So as there is a Swedish keyboard available for the models on sale currently, that could be put onto any custom built X220 too.

Theoretically you could also order a model from the US, and then order a Swedish keyboard from Lenovo, put it on, and there you go :) If prices in Sweden are anything what they are here in Finland, this would probably be cheaper too :)

I thought about doing that, but the rights we get in Norway is just to good to pass up. The price in the US was lower but with taxes, the difference was not high enough compared to the work and rights I would loose.
The price in US for the model I want is 2110 included norwegian taxes. This is 11000 something kroner. Added to that is new keyboard plus shipping to norway. So I would just save a few hundred dollars. So the diff is not that big, even though the US model got a better screen :p

Blah, so I am keeping my norwegian order.

I contacted about every supplier in Norway about the X220 with IPS display and no one could seem to figure this one out, the information from Lenovo Norway is simply downright horrible.

They all seem to believe that X220 IPS models wont show up in Norway before the summer holidays and when asking if going X220T is the only way to get my hands on something with IPS display they tell me the X220T wont feature IPS displays until the summer holidays either!

How is that even possible? As the X220T doesn't feature anything but IPS displays? Can't say I'm very impressed by the information granted by Lenovo Norway at all.

I ended up ordering from Germany instead, to get the IPS screen. The shop had a swedish keyboard addon as well as cheap upgrades for ssd and ram. I unfortunately had to go down to I5 instead of I7 to get the other spec as I wanted it, but it is good enough for me.
    1 x Thinkpad X220 -i5-2520M (2.5GHz), 4GB, 320GB 54, 12.5" HD Premium LED 1366x768, Intel HD 3000, a/g/n WLAN, BT, Sec. Chip, FP, HD-Cam, 6-Zelle, Win7 Prof. 64, 3J. Garantie (4290W1C)
plus extra ssd and 4Gb of ram.
It seems like the total cost was around 400€ less than if I would have ordered similar spec from Sweden.

@lenardg: lapstars.de - Lenovo Notebooks und deren Zubehör

They also have student discounts on top of that the the vat is 18% instead of 25% as it is here in Sweden. So as long as the computer arrives, it seams like a really good deal. 20€ shipping to EU countries.
There is also another thread in this forum discussing EU shops.

Thanks for the link to the NYG2W-MN ( ? ADVANCE ? Lenovo ThinkPad X220 ?)

Anyone have any experience with this webshop?

However... I need to get the i7 / USB 3.0-option and the IPS-screen is a must.

Have any of you norwegians ever purchased a computer in Denmark, and then brought it back home (get your danish VAT back and pay the norwegian to make it legit) ? The prices are quite a bit lower...

But like lufen said, a purchase in norway is legally very well protected... but the cost of Thinkpads in norway is just insane...

Let me just add that lapstars.de now has Norwegian keyboard layouts for the X220.

Mario from lapstars.de answered my request within a few hours, and simultaneously put the option on the site. They also have excellent promos for academic personell (teachers, students, researchers)... and the VAT seems to be taken out of the figures once you make an account stating where you want the machine shipped to.

I am just waiting for the X220 processor throttling issue to be resolved before I order...

Germany has 3 years of warranty vs 2 years in Denmark vs 5 in Norway. The price difference, however is vast... 3 years is enough to ensure you haven't got a bad unit.
