So I'm sure a few of us have seen this message when using aftermarket batteries. What I'd like to know is are there any particular aftermarket brands that the Power Manager believes are genuine Lenovo batteries?
I'd like to know if some of the more expensive aftermarket brands, like Rayovac or BTI, managed to emulate Lenovo battery firmware so that the annoying message is avoided.
I haven't bought a battery yet...still weighing my options.

no... aftermarket brand will NOT fool the Thinkvantage power manager. Just untick the notification selection box in the power manager and it should stop the annoying message popping up.
Also, which model of the thinkpad do you have? -

If you want a genuine battery your best bet is the outlet. I know there's nothing there now, but they'll probably be back. You do have to be ready when they do come back. You snooze, you lose.

Bingo, exactly what I need to know at this moment. I'm out to source for battery online for thinkpad t61, and worry about 'original' lenovo battery. Just can't imagine that third party battery can fool TPM, is it true so ??

you could try outlet.lenovo.com if you are in the US, sometimes they sell the actual battery for around 40 to 50 USD.
Not a Genuine Lenovo Battery
